Sourced from the renowned highlands of Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia, this Grade 1 washed lot is cultivated at elevations between 1,850 and 1,880 meters above sea level by approximately 1,200 smallholder producers who deliver their cherries to the Idido Washing Station. Operating under the Malebo Project by Ardent Coffee Exporter, these native heirloom seeds were carefully selected for this exclusive washed offering. The coffee in this lush, tropical region is typically shade-grown using organic practices. After being picked ripe and depulped the same day, the coffee undergoes an 8 to 12-hour fermentation in open-air tanks before being fully washed in water channels. The beans are meticulously hand-sorted throughout an 18-day drying process on raised beds, then rested for four weeks prior to milling to ensure a consistent moisture content. This extraordinary dedication yields a beautifully sweet and sparkling cup with distinct flavor notes of plum, panela, and rich brown sugar.
